We are Astrid Meesters and Jerry de Vries and live since 2004 in Assendelft, near Zaandam.
We have one cat and of course our French bulls: Skye, Summer, Vegas, and Meaghan.
About 15 years ago we started working with dogs by purchasing our first dog Doogie, a crossbreed Labrador / Dalmatian. He was a real problem dog, a super dominant male and we had no experience (yet) but were determined to give this reassignor, because that was it, a future. We went to training with him, and he went through all the training, from the young dog course up to and including the gg1. This way we learned a lot about dog behavior and became our passion. Doogie was 12 years old and competed in the Dutch championship agility. We learned a lot from this dog, everything started with him. Hereafter came two Malinois, Indra and Chain, both in the top of the agility. They are now both of age and enjoying their rest.
Our fourth dog was Donald, a cross from asylum at Crailo in Hilversum. He was then a year old, uneducated and busy, an unguided projectile so a challenge to work with. We did not know his background. It quickly clicked with this dog and he also became 12 years old. A lovely dog with a golden character, a "once in a lifetime dog"
In addition to a behavioral course and instructor course, in June 2011 Astrid successfully completed the kk1 (kynological knowledge) exam.
How we finally chose the French Bulldog was because acquaintances of us had a bitch and we found it such a nice dog. Happy, spontaneous, cheerful and that expression, we fell for it as a block. So visited shows, read a lot and approached some breeders. In the end Floor came home, in the summer of 2007, born in kennel Les Jolis Minois in Beek / Limburg. A beautiful, sweet fawn girl. With her we started showing, and now we have been doing this for a number of years, not without success. Few shows pass us by, but with the condition that the dogs also like it. In the meantime our male Breezer was born in June 2008, also in kennel Les Jolis Minois. In July 2009 a bitch was added, namely from Yazzlin Pink of Muppy's Place, a brindled bitch from a beautiful bloodline. She would become our ancestress.
In 2010 Yazzlin became Luxembourg Youth Champion and Groningenwinster, in 2011 she became VDH-Europasiegerin in Dortmund.In November 2012 she became German VDH champion, six months after the birth of her 5 pups.
We had the plan for a while to start our own kennel, and so the kennel name was requested. Kenned Amadors Gem was a fact on 19 October 2009. We strive for health, quality and good character. Our dogs are also tested by health screening. The photos are made of the back, the breathing, eyes, ears and heart tested and the degree of patellar luxation. Meanwhile, our first litter was born in 2012 from Yazzlin x Extravert v.Moezels Oever. From this we have held Vegas and Skye. They too have already taken their steps in the show ring, and not without result; in 2013 Skye became no less than Dutch, Belgian and Luxembourg youth champion! In the meantime our kennel has been extended with Summer, daughter from the litter of Skye and Frustyle Royal Elegance (Roy). Meanwhile, she is NL Youth Champion, Youthwinster 2015, Winster 2016, NL Champion and Crufts qualified. We also have two pups from the second litter from May 2016 from the combination Amadors Gem Is not She Lovely (Skye) and Joghurt Dart Azart Gyvybes Zyme (Yarik) These two have already taken their first steps in show area and have a beautiful character as with the breed ...
Our dogs receive fresh meat nutrition, also called BARF. They do very well here, the stools are less, there is less chance of allergies, the coat glows and above all they love it. They also receive grain-free chunks as a supplement.
We are registered with the Dutch Kennel Club under number 266641 and are a member of the HBC (Dutch Bulldogs Club). On our news site we will try to regularly write new messages about the experiences with our dogs. We hope this will be appreciated. Enjoy reading!
